Panorama- Spili

Spili is a village found around twenty km 's out of Rethymno and a midway stop on the way to Agia Galini. Its famous for its central square and the water fountains with the lion heads. The water is said to have a magic tradition and rumor has it that when you drink from there, you will get married to a local!
Right outside of the village of Spili is found the tavern of Panorama. With a view that justifies its name as you can see the great mountainous terrain, for a tiny second you forget you are found in an island!
However as we are not in the “mating season” , we decided to go to this pretty well known tavern. In a day of holiday, such as the one we went, the place was FULL!!! The owners were friendly and warm and set up a new table for us!
The lent period is a great chance to try out the sea food variety of our culture so we order a bit of everything. Squids, tarama (practically speaking a puree of egg fish and bread, and potatoes), baked potatoes, octopus, stuffed vine leafs, calamari and others things like beans and the dry lent-bread.
This is what we ordered! And when it comes to food the thing was a little medium. Not so tasty, not so well cooked but a pleasant meal all in all! I do give the people in Panorama an excuse for being full house, having to tend a big lot of hungry Greeks, but honestly unless the road leads me there, I don't think I will setup to go to Spili specially for that!

Positive parts: The location and the warm and friendly service even though everything was occupied.
Negative parts: Food was prepared in a rush, not very well taken care off.
